Will Tank Johnson Make It To Miami?

In all the post-NFC Championship euphoria, we've missed an unsettling piece of news.

Tank Johnson might not be allowed to go to the Super Bowl.

[Tuesday] at half past nine in Courtroom 108 of the 2d District Municipal Courthouse in Skokie, Ill., defensive tackle Tank Johnson and his attorneys will ask Circuit Judge John J. Moran, Jr., for permission to leave the State of Illinois. Without Moran's permission, Johnson won't be going anywhere.
According to an article in SI.com, the outlook does not look promising:
"The bond is astounding," one veteran defense lawyer told SI.com. "It means that Johnson is in real trouble with this
judge."

Judge Moran, for the sake of the city, you can be just and a little creative:

Craft an order that keeps Johnson under wraps, a house arrest in Miami - with him paying all the costs - but still able to practice and play at Dolphin Stadium.

Ballhype: hype it up!

Travel restrictions on probationers are not that uncommon, totally legal, and pretty much at the discretion of the presiding judge. On the other hand, I'm not sure what society gains from preventing Johnson from travelling to Miami for "work." He clearly doesn't need to travel to obtain illegal weaponry, which is what his repeated crimes against civilized society relate to. One would think the Bears' coaches are pretty much the only authority in Tank's life. I'd be more worried about what would happen if he was left behind in Chicago without these authority figures, than what will happen in Miami. Tank may not have the judgment to be on best behavior, but the Bears know enough to keep a close eye on him. In fact, I suspect Don Johnson and Rusty Jones are drawing straws right now to see who has to room with the Tank next week.
