Zbikowski Cleared of NCAA Violations

A quick follow up on something I wrote about Saturday. Notre Dame safety Tom Zbikowski and a couple Notre Dame basketball players have all been cleared of any NCAA violations.

It all started when Zbikowski did a bump for a locally televised sports show called Sportz Dogs. A bump being just a short little,

"Hey I'm Tom Zbikowski, and I wanna send a shout out to all my boys back in the B-Grove. Tiny, C-Loose, Icepick, T-Bizzle, and Buttplug. Oh, and you're watching Sportz Dogs on WSBT. Peace!"

Technically, these things are an infraction of NCAA by-laws, so once the school became aware of the problem, it turned itself in.

"Technically, the issue did involve the players' eligibility, so we had to seek reinstatement. Between Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday evening, they were ineligible for competition. The NCAA determined that it was a secondary violation with no additional sanctions and no eligibility consequences for the student-athletes."

-Notre Dame Associate Athletic Director Mike Karwoski

So that means Irish fans can stop worrying, not that any of us really were. Tommy will be patrolling the secondary and returning punts for us in this, the year Notre Dame finally wins the BCS National Championship.
