Ohio State Would Represent the NFC in the Super Bowl

So, the Seahawks are going to make the NFC playoffs, yet after last night they've now lost two games in a row, one to the Arizona Cardinals and now at home to the 49ers.

That's basically par for the course in the NFC. It's so bad this season, that most people haven't even noticed how mediocre the AFC has been lately, too.

For the first three quarters, the game was played in rain and 500MPH winds. Once that all stopped in the fourth quarter, Alex Smith and the Niners took over.

Smith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, all in the fourth quarter. Frank Gore ran through the Seahawks for 144 yards, and also caught one of Alex Smith's touchdown passes.

"The boy (Smith) just became a grown man today, baby. There's a lot more to come."

-Frank Gore

The win moved San Francisco to 6-8 on the season, and kept them alive in the hunt for a playoff berth.

Seattle, on the other hand, can still win the NFC West with another victory, but odds are that won't happen until Week 17 at Tampa Bay. The Seahawks have to face the Chargers next week.

Any way you look at it though, neither deserves to be in the playoffs. Lucky for them though, that's just the way things work in the NFC right now.

If you think about it, name one team in the NFC that isn't a 10-point underdog to San Diego in the Super Bowl? You can't, can you?
