Daddy's Little Buttercup

How many times a day do you as a man fantasize about a woman just tackling you and having her way? Three? Four? 423?

Well for a select few high school football players, dreams are becoming reality.

Meet 16-year-old Holley Mangold.

Holley is the younger sister of New York Jets rookie center Nick Mangold, formerly of Ohio State University. (No, she doesn't know Laura Quinn, so stop bugging her to get you an autograph, you selfish bastard.) Like her brother before her, Holley attends Archbishop Alter High in Kettering, Ohio.

Going into her junior year, Holley has a chance to play guard on the varsity boys' football team. Now Holley wouldn't be the first girl to ever play boys' football; Kathy Ireland did it for the Texas State Armadillos
and Martin Gramatica has found a home in New England.

The difference is, both of those ladies were kickers. Holley is the first girl to play boys' football at a non-girl position. When asked why she didn't want to kick Holley said,

"When anybody talks about being a kicker or anything like that, no offense to [New York Jets kicker Mike]Nugent, but I've always thought kickers were not really part of it."
No offense to Nugent? She must mean Ted, cuz Mike Nugent is 5'9" 182lbs. Holley is 5'9" 300lbs. What the hell is Mike Nugent going to do to her? Tell his mom?

Even if she did mean Ted, I don't think one of his shotguns could take her down.

Mangold isn't just some story though, like say Danica Patrick. She has attended Ohio State's youth football camps every year since 8th grade, and while there, won the best offensive lineman award a few times. She can handle the job.

"Like a lot of rock-headed coaches, they tried to run the ball at her twice in a row. They got stonewalled," said Holley's father, Vern. "They didn't run that way anymore. She makes believers out of folks. Holley just enjoys that cold rush when you smack into somebody. It's hard for me to say about my little buttercup, but it's true."
Upon hearing her father say "buttercup," Holley yelled out "Where!?"

Holley has skills in other areas besides football. She excels in track and field, throwing the discus and shot put, and also set the AAU girls record in the squat, lifting 525 pounds.

The previous record was 470.

Also, according to
her MySpace page, Holley has talents not just related to athletics. Take this thoughtful little nugget for example,

"REMEMBER FAT GIRLS GIVE THE BEST HEAD CAUSE THEIR HUNGRY."
Oh, Daddy's little buttercup is growing up so fast.

love her for unapologetically being who she is. she's got guts, talent and a family who supports her, which is also very cool.

however, AP's story about her gets a nomination for most blatant "we're going to pretend this is totally normal" PC writing:

"Holley does more than play football. She also throws the discus and shot put, and set the AAU girls record for squat lifting at 525 pounds, breaking the old mark of 470. When asked about whether he could top that, Nick said, 'I can always beat her. It's the big brother syndrome.'

"Good genes run in the family. Vern played right guard in high school, and Therese was captain of her swim team in college..."

happy the kid is doing well but a 16-year-old girl who weighs over 300 pounds has GOOD GENES???
