Of the $51 million, the Saints estimated that $26.2 million are guaranteed. This amount is slightly less than what Mario Williams (1st overall $26.5 million) received from the Houston Texans, and more than Vince Young (3rd overall $24.75 million) got from the Tennessee Titans.
The 2nd overall pick out of the University of Southern California has already missed the first 2 days of the Saint's training camp in Jackson , Mississippi. There were reports that talks were heating up and making progress as Saturday wore on, but it was not expected that both sides would agree to the deal before Sunday at the earliest.
The agreement puts to rest all the nonsensical talk that Bush was considering sitting out the season and re-entering the NFL Draft next season. Considering the fact that the city of New Orleans has embraced Bush, and that he has already put a significant amount of money into the city's hurricane relief fund, to seriously believe he was going to leave the city was ridiculous.
As for when Bush will join his teammates at practice, it probably won't be until Monday. With having to fly across country tomorrow, and dot the I's and cross the T's, it's unlikely he will suit up Sunday.
