Does Pistorius Have a Leg Up On His Competition?

We'll soon find out, as this double amputee is set to compete in his first able-bodied Grand Prix event at the Norwich Union Sheffield Grand Prix July 15th.
South African Oscar Pistorius, born without bones in both legs due to a congenital condition, had his legs amputated below the knee when he was a year old and now runs on carbon fibre curved blades called "Cheetahs."
The International Amateur Athletic Federation initially banned Pistorius, citing the potential for an unfair advantage from the artificial limbs, but reversed the decision and approved his appearance in Norwich.
He'll be facing some stiff competition there, Olympic 400m champion Jeremy Wariner.
"With the likes of Jeremy Wariner in the field I couldn't ask for a stronger test, but these are the sort of challenges I want," said Pistorius, 20.Former Olympic 400m silver medallist Mark Richardson thinks it's about time Pistorius got a shot.
He's got great energy and he's a fearsome competitor. There should be no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to compete against so-called able-bodied athletes, so I'm really looking forward to this encounter."Here's a taste of Pistorius' prodigious skills and some history of the controversy.

Breaking News: 18-Year-Old Women Are Hot
We're huge fans of track and field* here at Foul Balls, so with that in mind I'd like to introduce you to Miss Allison Stokke.
Allison is one of the best female pole vaulters in the country, and set the United States record for a freshman girl with a 12'8" jump. That's very impressive.
What's more impressive about the senior from Newport Harbor High School?
Well, look at her. You may consider me to be a dirty old man for posting pictures of this lovely young lady, but I remind you that she is 18 and that's totally legal.
Also if you're complaining about it, it's obvious that you are in fact a woman. I can tell because that's what women do. They complain. All the time. About everything. Seriously, just shut the hell up and bring me my sandwich.
You can find more pictures of the extremely talented Allison Stokke over at With Leather, whom I'd like to thank for informing us all about her pole vaulting skills.
Also, I think I deserve credit for not making the obvious pole vaulting jokes here. That just shows you how mature I am. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go punch that girl I have a crush on and then run away.
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
*As long as it features really hot chicks

The Crying Games
Santhi Soudarajan won the silver medal in the women's 800 meter race earlier this month at the Asian Games. Earlier today Soudarajan was stripped of the medal.
Why strip Soudarajan of the medal? Well, funny story actually. To run in an event for women, you have to actually, you know, be a woman.
An Indian runner who won a silver medal in the women’s 800 meters at the Asian Games failed a gender test and was stripped of the medal.
Santhi Soudarajan was tested after the race this month in Doha, Qatar.
We have nothing else to say about this, just that it made us laugh. A lot.
