They're Still Playing Hockey

I haven't had a chance to watch either of the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, but going by the scores I've seen, and the things I've read, I'm not missing much. Sure, the NHL has to be happy that Sidney Crosby is playing in the league's premiere event, but his Penguins just aren't as good as the Detroit Red Wings and it's showing.

Hell, it was obvious before the start of game one that the Penguins just weren't going to be able to hang with the mighty Red Wings. Just look at this video of Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fluery entering the ice before game one.

On the bright side, at least he didn't drop any trophies or anything.

Sidney Who Did What?

It's kind of a shame, really. The Sabres and Senators do WWF on Ice and everyone gets excited. Meanwhile, a guy who could end up being one of the greatest hockey players of all time is breaking records and hardly anyone pays attention.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby became the youngest NHL player to reach 200 career points on Friday night.

The 19-year-old outfought Carolina's Josef Vasicek behind the net to corral the puck, then quickly beat goalie Cam Ward with a wraparound to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. The leading vote-getter for this year's All-Star game, Crosby already was the youngest player to start the game since fan balloting began in 1986.
I mean, c'mon, the kid broke Wayne Gretzky's record. Not bad.

Here are a few of those 200 goals (and one from when he was really young). Congratulations, whoever-you-are.
