Well, there's my ballot in the Blogpoll after week four of the college season. I'm going to break it down a little differently this week though.

Top Five
  • USC and LSU stay the same, and I really do consider them both to be 1a and 1b right now. Until either team does something to prove otherwise, they'll be staying in those spots.
  • I moved West Virginia and Oklahoma back above Florida because they did exactly what they were supposed to do against a weaker opponent while Florida struggled a bit with Ole Miss.
The Middle
  • Ohio State has taken over the title of "Best Team in the Big Ten" though I'm not really sure what that means right now.
  • I'm not really sure which of the teams from 10-14 is truly the best between them, but from what I've seen I've been more impressed with Oregon. Though looking at it now, I probably should have put Rutgers below both BC and Clemson.
  • Penn State dropped further than anybody else because Anthony Morelli didn't inspire much confidence against Michigan on Saturday.
The Bottom Five
  • We welcome Arizona State to the Top 25 this week as the Pac-10 looks like they have more than just USC this season. We all knew Cal would be up near the top most of the year, but adding Oregon and ASU to the mix means that USC is going to have to fight to keep their #1 spot.
  • I know Michigan State beat Notre Dame this week, but I don't think that's enough to earn moving up any spots, so they stay at #24 this week.
  • I had about 5 different teams I considered for the 25th spot, but in the end I gave it to Purdue because I'm a Big Ten homer at heart.

Tonight Is The Night

Oh, how we have all been waiting for this one.

In our lives as sports fans, we are sometimes blessed with contests between two entities that represent the very best in their sport. Ali vs. Frazier. Red Sox vs. Yankees. Tar Heels vs. Blue Devils. Britney vs. KFed. We live for these confrontations.

But tonight...tonight we face the prospect of perhaps the greatest athletic contest to ever occur on this planet.

That's right.

It's the Play-In Game.

Florida A&M vs. Niagara. A rivalry words cannot even begin to describe. I have neither the intelligence nor audacity to pretend I can try.

What I will do is give you a tidbit you may not have known about each team:

  • Florida A&M - FAMU's best player is 6'8 forward Rome Sanders. Sanders is from Chicago, and has averaged 15.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and shot 65% from the field this season. But did you know that last summer while in Alaska, Sanders wrestled with, and killed, a grizzly bear? He had no weapons but his muscles and bloodlust. When asked why he did it, Sanders said, "Cuz, fuck bears. That's why."

  • Niagara - Charron Fisher is a 6'3 guard/forward who averaged 20.1 points a game, and 8.1 rebounds. He missed the first eight games of the season while serving a suspension for a fight, but that's just what Fisher wanted you to think. In reality, he was in China. Rescuing Jack Bauer.

So who's going to win? I don't know. It's tough to call. When two perfect teams collide, there's no telling who will end up on top of the mountain when it's all said and done.

All I can tell you is, whoever does manage to win, they're going to get their ass kicked by Kansas. Not because they're not as good as the Jayhawks, but cuz after they win tonight's game they'll have nothing left to prove to anybody.
