19 Virginia Tech 3
20 Texas A&M 4
21 Hawaii 5
22 Georgia 1
23 Missouri 3
24 Michigan State 2
25 Nebraska 12

Dropped Out: Georgia Tech (#15), UCLA (#16), Tennessee (#18), Arkansas (#19), South Florida (#25).

It should be noted that since I was at my sister's wedding on Saturday, I hardly got to watch any football at all. So my ballot this week is probably a bit off since all I have to go on is what I read about each game.

I knocked Georgia Tech, UCLA, Tennessee, and Arkansas out all because they lost. South Florida I took out because their win over Auburn doesn't look as impressive now that Auburn lost to Mississippi State this weekend.

Alabama and Kentucky are new to the poll this week after big wins over Arkansas and Louisville respectively. I doubt I'm the only person who thought Kentucky would beat Louisville this weekend, but it still came as a surprise to most. Get used to hearing the name Andre Woodson in the coming weeks, because he's making the Wildcats a viable threat in the SEC.

I ranked Ohio State the highest among Big Ten teams, because after an impressive victory on the road against Washington, they deserve it. Penn State had some struggles early against Buffalo, and Wisconsin gave up too many points to The Citadel.

As for Nebraska, a 12 spot drop after losing to USC may be a bit much, but that's just how things worked out.

As always, your thoughts and opinions are welcome in the comments.

Bear Bryant Saved The World

I know that Alabama football and Bear Bryant are two topics normally outside the realm of what Panger and I cover here at Foul Balls, but damn it, this video just amused the hell out of me. And it's Friday. Who wants to think on a Friday? You just wanna watch cartoons anyway.

Saban - b + t =

There's an infant in Alabama who doesn't know it now, but his life is destined to be hell on earth.

Why?

You see, his genetically-challenged parents, Tim and Hannah Witt, are big University of Alabama football fans.

So when their second baby was born, they decided to name him Saban.

As in Nick Saban, Alabama's new coach. You know, the guy who changes teams like Sanjaya Malakar changes hairstyles.

Little Saban joins his older brother, 23-month old Tyde. Get it? Crimson Tide?

The Decatur Daily News asked the couple the obvious question: What if Saban ditches Alabama like he has all the others?

No problem, says proud daddy Tim:
"We'll tell our son he was named after one of the highest paid coaches in college football."
If the Witts have a third child, may I suggest the perfect name?

Half.

Nick Saban is a Man You Can Trust

Where have we seen this story before?

Two weeks ago Nick Saban told everybody,

"I'm not going to be the Alabama coach."
He was going to stay in Miami and coach the Dolphins. Then last night he called Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga and spoke to his coaches over speakerphone to let them know he was leaving to become the head coach at the University of Alabama.

The deal is from eight to ten years and worth between $35-%40 million. Saban still had 3 years and roughly $13.5 million left in his contract with the Dolphins.

This isn't anything new for Saban. He was in the middle of turning around Michigan State's program when he bolted for LSU. At LSU he won a national championship, and then left to return to the NFL and coach the Dolphins.

Now the question is, how long until he leaves Alabama? We say three years.
