The Uproar Over Urlacher Is Ridiculous

One of the biggest news stories being talked about in Chicago the last few days relates to comments that Brian Urlacher made about Jay Cutler, Matt Forte and the Chicago Bears to Yahoo!'s Michael Silver during the Bears loss to the Vikings on Sunday.

In case you missed it, here's a sample of some of the things Urlacher had to say about his teammates.

“Look, I love Jay, and I understand he’s a great player who can take us a long way, and I still have faith in him,” Urlacher said. “But I hate the way our identity has changed. We used to establish the run and wear teams down and try not to make mistakes, and we’d rely on our defense to keep us in the game and make big plays to put us in position to win. Kyle Orton might not be the flashiest quarterback, but the guy is a winner, and that formula worked for us. I hate to say it, but that’s the truth.”

On a screen pass to Matt Forte that went nowhere Urlacher said “You know why that doesn’t work? We don’t make anyone [expletive] miss. I guess I just don’t realize what great tacklers these [opposing defenders] are. They’re amazing.”

What exactly did Urlacher say there that's so offensive to anyone?  Which Bears fan isn't sitting at home watching this team and saying the same damn thing to themselves?

If you read my Tweets during a Bears game I can assure you that you'll be reading a lot more damning comments than anything Urlacher said.  The man is just speaking the truth.  Well, maybe he's overestimating Kyle Orton's ability to be a winner, but other than that he's dead on.

And he's not only questioning Cutler.  In fact, he never really did.  All he said was that this team used to be able to run the ball and stop people on defense.  Now they don't.  Now they're forced to throw all over the place because the offensive line couldn't open a hole in a plastic bag, and the defense couldn't stop that same plastic bag as it blew around in the wind.

If anyone should be upset, it should be the offensive line and the defense, but they're not.  Trust me, they know they suck too.

I find it amusing that this quote from Urlacher about Cutler -- in the same article mind you -- hasn't even been mentioned in the Chicago media regarding this story.  Here's what Urlacher had to say after Cutler's touchdown pass to Johnny Knox.

“You see [Cutler] do [expletive] like that, and you’re like, ‘That’s unreal,’ ” Urlacher said. “I mean, there might be five guys in the league who can make that throw; it couldn’t have been anywhere else. It was [expletive] sweet.”

Wow, feel the hate flow from that comment.  It's obvious that Brian hates Jay and all that he stands for.

The truth is that he's frustrated just like you're frustrated.  So why is it that we, as fans, can criticize the Bears but somebody who actually plays for the team can't?  Would you have been upset with somebody at AIG stepping up a few years ago and saying publicly "Hey, just what the [expletive] are we doing here?"

The man was just telling the truth.

Ballhype: hype it up!

Fuck Brian Urlacher. Tell him if he doesn't like it he can take his gay pink cast off and be a man instead of a little bitch. They'd still suck with him out there.

Rock,

Didn't you tell me you went to school at Wisconsin?

Rock Strongo said...

Kind of. I went to grad school in Madison, so I speak from experience. It was the only time of my life when I preferred going home alone and masturbating rather than pick up a girl.

If state's female attractiveness quotients were football teams, Wisconsin would be the Oakland Raiders. Fucked from top to bottom.
