The White Sox Sign Scott Podsednik To Minor League Deal

With Dewayne Wise now on the disabled list thanks to a trial separation between his arm and torso the White Sox have been forced to call up Jerry Owens from Charlotte to fill his spot on the roster. Though Owens will be on the bench this afternoon as Brian Anderson gets the start in centerfield.

Still, it seems the prospect of having Jerry Owens on the roster really hit home with Kenny Williams this afternoon because he's gone to the past to find a possible answer for the future.

In a report on ESPNRadio1000 in Chicago and now being confirmed by the tiny Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports the White Sox have signed Scott Podsednik to a minor league deal.

Podsednik, you'll remember, was the spark plug of the White Sox lineup back in 2005 when they won the World Series and he had that nifty little moment against Brad Lidge in Game 2 in which he hit a walk-off home run.

Unfortunately after that the only thing Podsednik was good at during the next two seasons on the south side was pulling his groin. He spent last season in Colorado with the Rockies, but now Kenny is going to kick Pods' tires to see if he has anything left to contribute.

Personally I'd rather kick the tires on Scott's lady, Lisa Dergan, but I'll take what I can get at this point.

Ballhype: hype it up!
