Cedric Benson: You Son of a Bitch
As I'm sure you've all heard by now, Cedric Benson had another eventful weekend down in Austin, Texas. He wasn't pepper sprayed or anything this time, but he did get in trouble with real cops for once, as he was arrested for a DUI.
Bears running back Cedric Benson—already under team scrutiny for being charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest in May—found himself under the critical glare of management again Saturday after being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Texas.Do you think it's ever occurred to Cedric that maybe, just maybe, he should stay away from Austin in the very near future? Stay away from any type of moving vehicle, whether land-based or water, and if you do have to get on one, make somebody else drive.
Benson, 25, was stopped by police at about 3 a.m. after allegedly running a red light about a block from a restaurant where he had eaten, police said. Benson's attorney said Benson was having a late dinner with his girlfriend and had two or three alcoholic drinks. He was arrested and charged without incident.
Obviously, I have a lot more to say about this, but I'm going to save it for Friday. I get the feeling it won't be nearly as hard to find an Asshole Of The Week this week.

The thing I don't get is why these guys don't just hire limos to take them out at night. I make quite a bit less than Benson, and my friends and I take Cabs all the time to prevent incidents just like this.
I totally believe him that he might have had only a few drinks, but that doesn't let him off the hook. I'd be the first to complain that they're way too strict with drinking & driving, but you don't see me just flaunting my abuse of the law either.
