High Five

A quick tour of the interweb while rooting for Hugo the Hornet to knee Robert Horry in the nuts on Monday to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

  1. If you know the Cubs, you have to watch this video. A fan imitates batting stances of past and present Cubbies. Hilarious. [Fanhouse]
  2. Glad to see I'm not the only person who thought what Robert Horry did to David West last night was despicable. Almost as infuriating, the announcers belabored defense of Horry's foul play. [Page 3]
  3. Given the valuable lesson we've learned today about Lance Briggs and baby mamas, shouldn't this Purdue player get an award instead of a court date? [The Wizard of Odds]
  4. Jim Edmonds isn't, of course, the first Cards/Cubs crossover. Here are the top seven. Bite me, Ernie Broglio. [JoeSportsFan.com]
  5. For Kyle Farnsworth, nothin' says lovin' like somethin' from the oven. [The Dugout]

RE: Horry...please. He set a back pick that West ran into. He did nothing wrong.

It's no different than what happened in game five between Tyson Chandler and Tony Parker, but since Parker wasn't having back spasms, nobody cared.

I watched it several times and I have to disagree. He aimed directly at the spot that was hurting West. What I saw was a premediated and deliberate act designed to send West to the locker room.

But I'm not surprised. That's what they put Horry out on the floor to do.

Yes, they call him Big Shot Bob because of his enforcing skills. That's why he's still in the league.

The guy took one cheap shot on Steve Nash, and now all of a sudden he's a dirty player?

When are people going to start calling out Chris Paul for all the cheap shots he's been taking at Bruce Bowen?

Or David West? He's not exactly a fucking saint.

Not going to debate you on the play of any others you've mentioned. And it should be noted I'm rooting for the Spurs. Unlike many out there, I love the team.

But I'm not a fan of Horry's. Of course he's a good player but he's definitely a multi-tasker. And his cheap shots are more memorable because both were real/potential game changers at critical moments during the playoffs.

So even his cheap shots win games. I don't see a problem at all here.

Though it should be mentioned that whether it was David West, Tyson Chandler, or Melvin Ely, Horry is delivering the same screen. It's called "good basketball." Also, West ran into the screen. Had Paul gone the other way, never would have happened.

Also, the only reason Horry seems to be "multi-tasking" is because Pop has been using him off the bench as six fouls to use in his Hack-a-Shaq, or Hack-a-Chandler defense to send them to the line.

Robert Horry is not, nor ever has been, a dirty player. It's not like he's sticking his knee out, or throwing punches at players under the basket after missed layups COUGH Chris Paul COUGH...

Still smoking, huh?

"Still smoking, huh?" is code for "Shit, you're right."

The announcers called it "a good clean play".

Not exactly, as it was still a foul, but there's no way to know of Hory's intentions were to hurt West.
