Morning Wood

Cleveland Indians 7 Chicago White Sox 2

Well the temperature at Progressive Field dipped quite a bit on Wednesday night from where it was on Monday afternoon, and it cooled the White Sox bats off while doing so. After managing 8 runs and 13 hits on opening day, the White Sox were bamboozled by Fausto Carmona on Wednesday night. Carmona went 7 innings and allowed only 1 run on 4 hits. Hell, he only gave up one fly ball, as he routinely got out of jams he created with walks by inducing double plays. Grady Sizemore did most of the damage (what new?) for the Indians, driving in three runs. Javy Vazquez got roughed up for 4 runs in 5 innings, and so far the new look White Sox bullpen looks a lot like the old look White Sox bullpen. Mike MacDougal gave up two runs in two innings, and Matt Thornton gave up a run in the 8th inning as well.

Milwaukee Brewers 8 Chicago Cubs 2

Of course, the losing baseball isn't only confined to the south side of the city at the moment, as the Cubs are still trying to figure out a way to get on the board as well. The game didn't start off very well, as Rickie Weeks took the first pitch of the game from Ted Lilly and parked it in the bleachers. Lilly lasted only 4.2 innings, and allowed four runs. Also, Bobby Howry had another bad outing, as he allowed two runs in one inning of work. Jeff Suppan went six solid innings for the Brewers, allowing only two solo shots to Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto, as the Brewers have already built a two-game lead in the NL Central. At this point I think it's safe to say that we Sox and Cubs fans should just start prepping for the Bears. There's just not enough time left in the season to overcome these deficits.

Also, this will be the last post I write here today. The White Sox game has already started (crazy ass 11AM starts), and I'd like to watch it. After the game, I'll be doing some writing for FanHouse, and as usual, I'll post them here. Though, I guess there's an outside chance I'll write something here later today as well. Who knows? Best to just keep coming back here all day and checking, and pad the numbers.

Ballhype: hype it up!
