Spread Em: College Football Week 10

During the college football season I'll be taking a look at each game on the Big Ten schedule, along with Notre Dame and any other national matchups of my choosing. I will then do my best to pretend I have any inkling what I'm doing, as I pick which team will cover the spread and why. So let's just get to the losses!

Indiana vs. Ball State (+7) -
The Hoosiers got off to a nice start this season, but the Big Ten has been unkind to them, as they've lost three in a row. They get a week off from conference play, but Ball State is no pushover. They played Illinois tough in Champaign, and they won't make it easy for Indiana to reach bowl eligibility on Saturday.

Northwestern vs. Iowa (+1.5) - Iowa's shown this season that they can stop good Big Ten offenses, and Northwestern's offense is good at times, but it's not great. I'm pretty confident the Hawkeyes will take this one outright.

Penn State (-7) vs. Purdue - I just don't know which Penn State team is going to come out and play on Saturdays this season. The defense always seems to show up, but my hatred of Anthony Morelli still burns because of his inconsistency. Just give the ball to Kinlaw. He'll tear through Purdue's defense. Since they're at home, I'll go with the Nittany Lions.

#1 Ohio State (-16) vs. #24Wisconsin -
I hope Wisconsin enjoys its week back in the blog poll, because they won't be there next week. No matter what changes in Columbus, as long as Jim Tressel's there, this team just keeps winning. The only thing standing between them and the title game is Michigan, well, unless they realize that and go to sleep in this game. Which they never do.

Michigan State vs. #11 Michigan (-4) -
Chad Henne and Mike Hart should be playing in this game, and Michigan should end up winning. Forget the two losses to start the season, Michigan's still better than everybody else in the Big Ten not named Ohio State. The Spartans meanwhile are 1-4 in the Big Ten, and giving up 34 points a game.

Minnesota vs. Illinois (-12) - Minnesota is HORRIBLE. PUTRID. Notre Dame would be favored by 7 against them. Really for the Illini, this will be nothing but a glorified scrimmage.

Notre Dame (-3.5) vs. Navy - Holy shit! Notre Dame is favored this week! What the hell is going on? Sure, it's Navy, and I don't think they've beaten Notre Dame since they were still using wooden boats, but have you seen Notre Dame this season? I make this pick with absolutely no confidence. This is nothing but a hope and a prayer.

Georgia Tech vs. #12 Virginia Tech (+3.5) - Hey, if you're gonna watch it tonight, may as well bet on it! I haven't seen much of Georgia Tech this season, but I've seen plenty of Virginia Tech. Based on that, I will assume their technical abilities are superior to their Georgian brethren, and I'll take the points.

#4 Oregon (-7.5) vs. #6 Arizona State - I am now officially drinking the Pac-10 Kool-Aid. Based on what I've seen this season, the Pac-10 is officially the best conference in the country. And that's with USC losing twice, as well as Cal and UCLA's difficulties. I think Oregon will prove that they're on a higher level than the Sun Devils right now, and a win here could lead to a title game appearance for the Ducks if things fall their way.

Last Week: 4-3

Overall: 48-38
