Kevin Everett Will Walk Again
I hadn't talked about it here, but by now I'm sure you're all aware of Buffalo Bills tight end Kevin Everett. If you aren't, I'll fill you in.
Everett snapped his spinal cord on Sunday, and doctors were pretty sure he'd never walk again. A sad reminder of the risks involved when you choose to make your living hurling yourself into large men.
Well, there is good news, and that's that doctors are stupid.
"Based on our experience, the fact that he's moving so well, so early after such a catastrophic injury means he will walk again," said Dr. Barth Green, chairman of the department of neurological surgery at the University of Miami school of medicine. "It's totally spectacular, totally unexpected."To be perfectly honest for a moment, I didn't care about this story until now. It's not that I didn't feel bad for Everett, nobody wishes a lifetime of being paralyzed on another human being, I just wasn't as concerned about it. I mean, this stuff happens in football. And when it does you have everybody and their mother sending their thoughts and prayers to the player and his family. I'm not one of those types.
I'll admit though, when I found out Everett would probably be able to walk again, it made me very happy. I don't know where it came from, or why it's there, the only thing I do know is I need to start drinking more whiskey so I don't have to feel feelings anymore.
