Where nobody is claiming Jose Contreras off of waivers.
- Jose Contreras Is Demanding - As a White Sox fan, do you know what the best part of this week's trade deadline was? It's the fact that I'll never have to watch a game Jose Contreras starts again this season. Seriously, it's painful. As soon as the deadline passed and the Sox didn't have to showcase him for a trade, they moved Jose to the bullpen. Jose's cool with the move too, and he understands it. Just don't expect him to be so open next season.
- On Deck: Johan's Audition Tour Begins Tonight - For at least three hours tonight, the people of Minneapolis will try to take their minds off of Wednesday's tragedy, and just enjoy some baseball for a little while. While they're doing that, they may also want to take the time to admire and appreciate Johan Santana because he's giving the impression that you won't get to see it too many more times. No, today officially starts Johan's year and a half audition tour of the country where all the big market teams can drool on themselves and each other while dreaming of Santana on the mound in their uniform. This series may also represent Minnesota's last stand in the AL Central. They're 5.5 games behind the Indians now as they start this four game series, but a poor performance over these four games could mean the end. On the other hand, winning three or four games will catapult the Twins right back into it. The first game won't be easy though as they'll be facing another lefty who's a free agent after next season, C.C. Sabathia. Sabathia against Santana? It doesn't get much better than that.
- Will George Brett Replace Buddy Bell? - With the surprising news of Buddy Bell's resignation earlier this week, the speculation as to who would replace Bell has already begun. A lot of people think that Dayton Moore will rely on those Atlanta Braves roots of his and hire Terry Pendleton to take over. If Pendleton took over for Bell, it would be a good move, but should Moore look within the Royals organization first? There are a couple of Royals greats who may be interested in the job.
