Kanye West Loves Barry Bonds
When it comes to Kanye West's music, I find it to be a little hit and miss. Some of it I like, some of it I don't. One thing about Kanye that I'm not too big a fan of is he's a little too in love with himself. Don't get me wrong, I think that's part of being a rapper, but for Christ's sake the guy appeared as Jesus Christ on the Rolling Stone cover.
That's taking it a bit too far, don't you think?
Well, apparently Kanye has taken the only next logical step after comparing himself to Jesus. Now like John Lennon, he's bigger than Jesus. Now, he's Barry Bonds.
Lil Wayne has made the final cut and will appear on a track called "Barry Bonds," Roc-A-Fella/ Def Jam confirmed Tuesday (August 14).Wow. "Here's another hit, Barry Bonds." There's still a question as to whether or not Kanye is one of the game's top lyricists? That's genius right there! Still, I think that a remix of "Jesus Walks" would have been more appropriate had he changed the song to "Barry Bonds Walks."Bonds — Major League Baseball's controversial, newly crowned home-run king — is apparently a metaphor for how big West thinks the record will be. The chorus goes, "Here's another hit, Barry Bonds."
As he's been doing on "Can't Tell Me Nothing," its remix and "Stronger," West uses "Barry Bonds" in part to proclaim his continued evolution as one of the top lyricists in the game.
It's probably a perfect fit when you think about it, because I'm pretty sure the only guy on the planet with a head bigger than Barry's is Kanye.
