Bears Trade Chris Harris

One of the positions where the Bears are absolutely loaded is safety. There are so many safeties on the current roster that former starter Chris Harris had dropped all the way down to fourth on the depth chart.

Now he's not on the depth chart, period. He's been traded to the Carolina Panthers for a draft pick.

"I was like a deer in headlights," Harris said later. "I was really, really surprised. It's kind of bittersweet, you know. I had a lot of close friends with Chicago, some close bonds and I really loved the city.

"The nice part is that I'm going to another very good team, great front seven, and I'm going to be able to contribute," Harris said.

Harris will be moving from fourth on the Bears depth chart to a starting position in Carolina, where they let both of their safeties from last season go.

This move also serves as a nice reminder to the rest of the team that while getting to the Super Bowl last year was nice, it doesn't guarantee you'll have a job this season.
