Today at FanHouse
Where at least we'll listen to Jermaine Dye.
- Pudge Will Get A Day Off-The hammer of justice that is Bob Watson has made a decision, and Ivan Rodriguez is going to have to live with it. Ivan will have to sit out a game, and his wallet is a bit lighter this afternoon, thanks to bumping home plate umpire Mike Winters on Friday night in Seattle.
- On Deck: Beckett Goes For Lucky #13-C.C. Sabathia had the first shot at it yesterday, but he couldn't overcome the Royals. This afternoon it's Josh Beckett's turn to try and become the first pitcher in baseball to reach 13 wins. Things are still going well for the Red Sox, and now that Julio Lugo and Coco Crisp have decided to contribute, it shouldn't be much longer until the AL East is officially decided. Beckett hasn't had the greatest time against Toronto in his career. He's 2-2 with a 5.25 ERA. He'll be facing off against Jesse Litsch-who?-who didn't give up an earned run in his last start but still took a loss.
- Jermaine Dye Wants the Buehrle Treatment-At the beginning of the season White Sox GM Kenny Williams said that there would be no negotiating during the year with any of the White Sox free agents-to-be. Well, then there were plenty of negotiations with Mark Buehrle, and now the left-hander is staying in Chicago for four more years. Much like Buehrle, Jermaine Dye is a free agent at the end of the season, and he'd like to stay in Chicago. Just one slight problem, the White Sox don't seem to feel the same way.
- Kenny Lofton Could Return to Cleveland-Remember those Indians teams of the 90's? That lineup that featured players like Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Roberto Alomar, Sandy Alomar Jr, and Carlos Baerga? The most important member of that lineup, which in my opinion is one of the best I've ever seen, was Kenny Lofton. He set everything up for everybody else. Lofton had some of the best years of his career in Cleveland, and now there's a possibility he may be rejoining the club in the coming weeks.
