Today at The Fanhouse

Actually, it's yesterday too.

  • Roman Colon Charged with Felonious Assault-You may remember last month when we told you about Tigers minor-leaguer Roman Colon getting into a fight with a teammate at Triple-A Toledo. As a result of the fight, Mud Hens closer Jason Karnuth had his jaw broken in several places just for trying to break it up. Colon was suspended seven games by the Tigers, but now he's going to have to deal with the law.
  • Huston Street is Bionic-When it comes to the recovery of Huston Street and his right elbow, there hasn't been much good news to report. Everytime he feels well enough to do some throwing, there's a setback. So since the A's really couldn't think of anything else to do, they sent Street to Toronto where he spent 18 days working with four specialists day and night doing everything they could to get his elbow healthy. I think the entire exchange started out something like this. "Gentlemen. We can rebuild him. We have the technology."
  • Jered Weaver Parties Like a Rock Star-I missed this the other day, but just had to share it with you now. Apparently rest and relaxation weren't what helped Jered Weaver recover from his sore shoulder and strep throat. It was rap music. More specifically, the Shop Boyz "Party Like a Rock Star."
  • On Deck: The Bronx Is Burning-It appears ESPN's new show "The Bronx is Burning" has taken on a life of it's own, literally. After the Yankees got their butts kicked on Saturday, Scott Proctor set fire to all his equipment right outside the Yankees dugout. Things are just going that good for the Yankees right now. They spent most of June doing everything they could to get back within range of the Red Sox, and now they're falling apart all over again. They're 2-8 in their last ten games, and now they have to face Dan Haren. Haren will be going against Andy Pettite, whom last we saw was dominating the Orioles before Scott Proctor walked in the winning run with the bases loaded in the 9th inning. Maybe if he would have burnt his equipment then, the Yankees wouldn't be in this mess.
  • Billy Beane Grows Impatient-Things aren't going terribly well for the Athletics right now. They continue to lose players to the disabled list, and they've lost 12 of their last 16 games as they keep falling further and further away from the division leading Angels. All of which makes you wonder if Billy Beane is getting ready to be a deadline seller rather than buyer.

Ballhype: hype it up!
