The City of Chicago Mourns
Before even starting this post, I should let it be known I haven't watched a single play of Arena Football this season.
The only thing I know about the league is that the Chicago Rush are the defending champs, and Mike Ditka is a part owner of them. Well, I also know John Elway owns the Denver team and Jon Bon Jovi is an owner of the Philly team, but I don't want to brag.
Still, that doesn't mean I'm not devastated. The Chicago Rush will not defend their title this season, as they lost in the American Conference title game last night, 61-49.
Oh, the pain. The horrible, horrible pain. I don't even know how I can go on blogging this morning. I will, though. The Rush would have wanted it that way.
Um, so I read that the San Jose Sabercats are like our biggest rival, and that we beat them in last year's Conference Championship game. We also won four straight against them before Saturday's loss.
They totally wanted us too.
"Our guys wanted to play Chicago," San Jose coach Darren Arbet said. "They were focused and played hard. And any time you can play in our building, as loud as it was today, I like our chances."That's so true. San Jose Arena Football fans are known worldwide as some raucous sons of bitches. I hear they send their sons to live in the wild at the age of five for six months, arming them with nothing more than a bottle of water and a knife.
No wonder we couldn't beat them.
