Today at The Fanhouse
Where I think I'm the only one working today
- On Deck: Geriatric Wednesday-As we told you about yesterday, for the first time in MLB history seven pitchers over the age of 40 will be starting for their respective teams today. One of those pitchers is Roger Clemens, who's still going for the 350th victory of his career. After fighting so hard to get above the .500 mark, the Yankees have now lost three in a row to fall two games under. The last we saw Clemens he was appearing as a reliever for the Yankees, but today he's back in his starter role. Erik Bedard, who is a lot younger than 40, starts for the Orioles. If he pitches too well and keeps the Yankees bats quiet, Roger may call on his long lost brother to come out and swallow him whole.
- Shea Hillenbrand: 'Play Me or Trade Me'-I think it's safe to say that Shea Hillenbrand has not been enjoying himself since signing with the Angels this last offseason. He started off the season as the designated hitter in Anaheim, but when he couldn't hit he found himself buried on the bench by Mike Scioscia. Then the emergence of Casey Kotchman and Reggie Willits made sure he stayed there. For the most part Hillenbrand has remained quiet and respectful of Scioscia's decision, but it appears that his patience has run out.
- Buehrle Staying in Chicago?-Just when I think Mark Buehrle is as good as gone, I open my Chicago Sun-Times this morning, and there it is. The White Sox and Mark Buehrle are about to come to terms on a contract extension.
