We already know that Jim Thome is in touch with his feminine side. Anybody who's willing to take his wife to see Oprah and then talk about her va-jay-jay while there knows and respects his women. So that's why this story from the Philadelphia Daily News isn't surprising.
Gentleman Jim Thome proved to be a better man than some of his Chicago White Sox teammates Sunday night at the Capital Grille (Broad & Chestnut).See, now that totally seems like something Ji-, Jim Thome would do.
The former Phillie came over to the table where Patti LaBelle and several friends were dining to apologize for the behavior of two Sox players who were cursing a blue streak just a few tables away from the LaBelle party.
LaBelle's manager, Damascene Pierre Paul, says he politely asked the table to talk with more respect for the ladies with whom he was enjoying dinner. An argument ensued, which was ultimately defused by restaurant staff. On yesterday's SportsTalk 950-AM morning show, the incident was said to be set off by racist jokes the Sox players told, but Paul says there was no racist talk, just cursing and boorishness.
Anybody want to take any guesses as to who the two Sox players with Jim were? Obviously one was A.J. Pierzynski, but the other one could be anybody. Whoever it was, I'm sure Jay Mariotti will find a way to blame Ozzie Guillen or Hawk Harrelson for it.
