The Basketball Diaries - It's Finally Over

San Antonio Spurs 83 Cleveland Cavaliers 82
And with that, one of the worst NBA Finals I've ever watched has finally ended. The Spurs have won the title for the third time in five years, and fourth time in the last nine. In my opinion, this officially makes San Antonio a dynasty, a boring dynasty, but a dynasty none the less. Tony Parker scored 24 points to secure his NBA Finals MVP, the first Spur to win one not named Tim Duncan. Speaking of Duncan, he finished with only 12 points but had 15 rebounds. I think the whole series could really be described by the closing minutes of this game. The Spurs had a three point lead with four minutes to go, and held onto the ball for 1:30 of game time. They kept missing shots and getting offensive rebounds until Fabricio Oberto finally made a shot, and got fouled to make it 72-66. The whole sequence basically showed that no matter how well the Cavs played, they couldn't stop San Antonio. Whether that shows how bad Cleveland is, or how good San Antonio is, I'm not exactly sure. The only thing that matters is that the Spurs were the ones holding the trophy when it ended.
