Morning Wood - Derrek Lee Eats Babies

Chicago Cubs 11 Chicago White Sox 6

Derrek Lee is a horrible person, and I wish his neck injury had been of the broken, paralyzed variety of neck injuries. Ok, that's a little bit over the top. I don't really mean that. Well, wait yeah I do actually. I used to be a Derrek Lee fan, but not anymore. I realize that it's only two games that the White Sox have lost now, and in reality it won't mean all that much during the season, but that doesn't mean I won't have to hear about it. Even if the Cubs finish 10 games under .500 and in fourth place in the NL Central, if they win on Sunday I'll have to hear about it all season. "What's that? The White Sox are the 2007 World Series champs!? Yeah, well we swept them in May! Suck on that!!! Wooooo!!!! I'm gonna go drink a beer while talking on my cellphone using my super sweet Bluetooth earpiece! You wish you were as important as me!! Wooo!!!!"

New York Mets 10 New York Yankees 7

Can things get any worse for the Yankees? Not only did they lose to the Mets again on Saturday, but they lost another starting pitcher to injury. Darrell Rasner broke a finger on his throwing hand after being hit with a line drive. At this point there are more people willing to go drive a truck in Baghdad than there are willing to put on a Yankees uniform and go to the mound. I figure at the rate they're going, a plane is going to crash onto a Yankee pitcher at some point this season, and then a cruise ship will land on top of that plane.

Minnesota Twins 5 Milwaukee Brewers 2

Scott Baker's first start this season for the Minnesota Twins went a long way in making sure it won't be his last. After struggling in the Majors the last few seasons, Baker lasted 8.1 innings in shutting down the Brewers. "If I feel like I did everything I could, that's peace of mind, that's the way I look at it," said Baker, who acknowledged he talked to sports performance coaches and relied on his faith after being demoted last season. "It's supposed to be fun, if it's not fun, why are we doing this? So, I'm having fun, enjoying it." Also, things are starting to go south fast for the Brewers. They've lost seven of their last nine games, yet still hold 1st place in the NL Central.
