College Three Pointers To Take Slightly Longer
I know that some people have a problem with college basketball, and say that the game is too perimeter oriented. At times it seems like three-pointers are too easy to make, and it ruins the fun for some people.
I'm not one of them. I love college basketball the way it is, but still, I don't really mind the changes the NCAA just announced today.
The women's three-point line will remain at 19 feet, 9 inches because they're girls, and girls just aren't as strong as boys. Plus, nobody watches girls' basketball. Maybe if they were better looking.....and topless.Twenty years ago, the NCAA made one of the most significant rules changes in its history when it instituted the 3-point shot.
In the year of the 20-year anniversary, the NCAA men's basketball rules committee decided the line needed a makeover.
So, beginning with the 2008-09 season, assuming the measure is approved May 25 by the Playing Rules Oversight Committee, the line will move back a full foot to 20 feet, 9 inches.
Anyway, it's not expected that the measure will be rejected by anybody, so it will be in effect next season.
And most players don't really seem to mind. Josh Carter, little brother of the Illini's Warren Carter, led the nation in three-point shooting percentage last season for Texas A&M, and he's cool with it.
"I think it would be a good change. I would have no problem stepping out and shooting a little longer shot. Everybody wants to go on to the NBA and the pros shoot it from farther out, so I think it would be fine."Another person not affected by the change is me. My game is flawless. They can move the line back to 50 feet if they want to, and I'll still make my shots left-handed with Scarlett Johannson jumping up and down - again, topless - in front of me. I'd still be staring at her boobs, but I'm just so good my shot will fall anyway.
