Blind Ambition
One of the biggest assets a running back can have is his vision. The ability to see the hole and how things are developing separates the great ones from the good ones.
Barry Sanders had it.
Walter Payton had it.
Emmit Smith had it.
LaDainian Tomlinson has it.
Darius Johnson doesn't have it.
See, Darius Johnson is legally blind, and as if that wasn't enough, he also suffers from sickle cell anemia. Oh, and his mom died of cancer when he was ten. Quite the charmed life this kid has led.
Despite all of that, Johnson has become a star football player for his Kansas high school team. Johnson rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season and was awarded by the Derrick Thomas Third and Long Foundation with a trophy and personalized jersey.
We're also willing to bet that if Darius played quarterback, he could do a better job of finding an open receiver than Rex Grossman. (Sorry, we couldn't get through a post without ripping Rexy.)"He can only see clearly 2 feet in front of his face. Everything else, he makes up for in some kind of way."
