Hope Jim Hendry's paying attention to this

The Marlins were reportedly very close to firing manager Joe Girardi on Sunday.

Apparently a disagreement erupted between Girardi and team owner Jeffrey Loria. It was so bad, Marlins' employees began setting up an interview room at Dolphin Stadium for a press conference, the room in which the Marlins announce their managerial hirings and firings.

Now why would the Marlins fire Joe Girardi who has, in his first year as manager, taken a bunch of minor leaguers and turned them into a solid Major League team? From May 23 to August 3 the Marlins were 40-26, the best record in the National League. Joe Girardi has been the real-life equivalent of Lou Brown.

Well, Girardi and Loria seem to have a difference in philosophy and strategy, which is probably something an owner should consider before hiring a guy. But that's just my philosophy.

It all came to a head on Saturday when Girardi was ejected for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Larry Vanover. Loria, who was sitting next to the Marlins dugout, was also yelling at Vanover when Girardi yelled at him to stop yelling.

According to sources, after the game, Loria, Girardi, team President David Samson and General Manager Larry Beinfest had a "heated discussion." The discussion was followed by a 90-minute team meeting.

Ever since, of course, both sides have been trying to play it down. If Cubs GM Jim Hendry is smart, he'll try to stoke the fire. Last offseason I was one of those people saying Hendry should fire Dusty Baker and bring in Joe Girardi. I always liked him as a player, and I knew he could do more for a team like the Cubs than Baker could. Girardi is a former Cub, and is more adept at handling younger players and teaching them how to play.

Of course Hendry didn't listen; he never listens to me. I think he's convinced that since I'm a Sox fan I'm just trying to screw up the Cubs.

You know, cuz he hasn't done that enough already.

If I'm Jim Hendry I'm sending Girardi and Loria emails from each other in which they say mean things about each other's mothers. I'm photoshopping pictures of Girardi having sex with Loria's wife and sending them to him.

Whatever I have to do to make this firing happen, so I can then make up for my mistake of not hiring Girardi last offseason.
